Stacey and Drew's Wedding at The Corner District - Aline Marin Photography_-122.JPG

What a beautiful way to end the most incredible wedding season! The last wedding of 2017 had us laughing and crying so many times. Stacey and Drew are so sweet and such a special couple. Their wedding weekend couldn't have been more perfect. It snowed that weekend and it looked like the most perfect winter wonderland wedding. Stacey shared a little about their story.

How did they get inspired for they special day: Our favorite time of the year is Christmas! We start listening to Christmas music early, decorate our house and  watch as many Christmas movies as possible! We are those people. Last year on 12/22 Drew proposed to me in front of our Christmas tree with our little Shih Tzu Peeps. It was simple and perfect, completely us. Afterward, we went and saw A Christas Carol which is a Christmas tradition of ours. My dad is 100% Polish but no longer with us. To help incorporate him and my polish heritage in the wedding we had our parents do a Polish bread and salt blessing before the reception. The blessing was so meaningful!
The wedding plans, ceremony and decor: We love everything vintage and are told we are old souls quite often. We are collectors of old furniture, Knick knacks, posters, etc. for our wedding we wanted the decor to reflect what our house looks like at Christmas. We wanted the space to feel cozy but classic a vision that would hopefully stand the test of time. I created the seating chart and welcome sign on Canva a website I often use for graphic design. The welcome sign was my favorite as i used the wording and melody from “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” to invite guests into the ceremony. We used my mom’s collection of vintage books and brass candlesticks she collected from the thrift store for our table scapes. Another favorite was the memory table. My mom and Drews mother had both given me their wedding dresses and i thought it would be so cool to display their dresses on forms and have pictures from our families wedding days. My mom created a beautiful tree out of ribbons with each ribbon representing some aspect of our lives, proposal and wedding day. One of our best friends and groomsmen, Andy Rhodes of Rhodes Design Co created an insane 4ft live edge picture frame for our guest signatures . Everything else was much like our house a cozy hodge podge of things we’ve collected thru our years together.
The most special parts of the wedding were:  Our DJ was one of Drews previous co workers. They met working at an ambulance service together. We are a first responder family so it was important to incorporate thT in as much as possible. Plus Dave is amazing! He kept thE party going, performed live and spun tunes. He had something for everyone and we appreciated that! We wanted to guests to have practical gifts that they could hopefully use and  personalized mints and match boxes. I loved the matches! The whole wedding was amazing! My sister had an amazing grooms cake made to look like R2D2 with an Alabama hounds tooth jacket as a surprise for Drew. It was insane! Every single person in our party was involved in making our day special and actually happen! The wedding  almost didn’t as a snow storm hit GA the day before haha. This wa a sign from Heaven for me.  My dad passed away 3 years ago. My sister and I found out he was sick and within 3 short days his health rapidly deteriorated. We flew out to VA to say goodbye, he was on life support and the saddest thing I’ve ever seen. He wa not conscious but I choose to believe he could hear us talking to him and holding his hand one last time. He passed the same day and we flew home to GA. On the ride back home from the airport it started snowing. He loved the snow so much and it felt like he was with us and saying he made it to the pearly gates. When it snowed for the wedding i knew It was him with us. It was so surreal and beautiful I still can’t believe it actually happened. Oh and i almost forgot we exited in our Christmas PJ onesies because that is our favorite thing to do get snuggly in Pjs and watch movies.
Here Stacey tell us more about their proposal: Drew and i met at Park Tavern in Atlanta. We both went to the same high school and have a ton of mutual friends. He is two years older than me and it is kind of crazy how some of my best friends are his best friends. Well needless to say we didn’t start dating for awhile. He couldn’t even remember my name haha. About 6 or so months after we met we started seriously dating. We compliment each other so well and have learned so much thru our relationship. Drew proposed in our living room in front our Christmas tree right. He talked about us and our lives and my dad. After my dad passed away we drove to VA to retrieve his belongings including his car. We had to drive to GA seperate on the way home and in his proposal he told me he asked my dad to marry me and said a little prayer. He would later ask my mom permission in my dad’s place and the rest is history! (Insert ugly cry)
What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
Seeing my knight in shining armor! We didn’t do a first look as we are kind of old fashioned and wanted full on tears st the first sight of each other  haha. It was amazing and perfect and our ring bearers (Drews nephews) walked our dog Peeps down the isle which was everything! Seeing my mom all dressed up and so excited was also a wonderful moment for me. Most post anticipated moment...Christmas honeymoon in Disney and Harry Potter world duuhhhhhh!!!!!
