“I wanted our wedding to feel natural and calm. So many weddings you go to, there’s so much going on. Serenbe brought this calming sense to me when I visited the first time. The scenery is beautiful but not overdone. Ben and I are constantly on the go and we live a very fast life. I wanted us to be as present as possible on our wedding day and by having it connected to nature seemed to be the only way we could really take a moment, step back, and really take it all in.

My dress was two pieces. I wanted a dress that didn’t resemble anything that I have seen before. My skirt is Mikaella Bridal and my top is Lea Anne Belter. I loved the idea of a mix of crepe and lace. The top was the very first piece I tried on when looking for dresses. I knew it was the one as soon as I put it on. When it came to my hair and makeup I wanted to look like myself. Ben loves my hair and makeup as natural as possible so I kept it simple. I wore my hair like I normally would and my makeup artist went for a more natural look. My wedding ring is beyond perfect. It’s what you call a “Cartier setting”. Gold band with round diamond. I love gold so Ben was spot on when he picked this out. Ben and I never talked about what I would want in a wedding ring so this was all him. A timeless piece.

My wedding day went perfectly. There were no issues (that I know of ha!). It was very calm. I chose to have only two bridesmaids because I wanted it to be as intimate as possible. My Maid and Matron of honor are two of my oldest and best friends. I didn’t grow up with sisters so these two have been family to me. Two of my close friends did my hair so it was fun having them there to hang out with. It was just us and my mom and grandma. Surrounded by the most important women in my life was all I wanted. Listening to music drinking champagne. Telling old stories of our crazy high school and college years. My girlfriends are hilarious so they were able to calm all of my nerves.

The most special moment for me was the ceremony. When I was walking down the aisle Ben pretty much lost is as soon as he saw me which is was extremely touching.

If we could freeze a moment from our wedding day it would be walking down the aisle and saying each other’s vows which we wrote ourselves. - Susan”
