Katie and Tyler’s intimate wedding day was so beautiful! The simple delicate details and vintage vibe created the perfect scenario for their special day. They share some of their inspirations with us. We’re so thankful that we got to document their special day!!
The inspirations behind our wedding were all things classy and vintage. We knew we wanted to get married in Columbus because this city just has so many memories for us and will always hold a special place in our hearts. Columbus has this awesome vibe and is full of beautiful old houses and buildings so we found the Rothschild-Pound House Inn to hold our ceremony and reception. It’s a Victorian-era home with deep roots to Columbus. We originally planned to just elope, but in the end decided we wanted a small intimate ceremony with only the closest friends and family. We went with some dark fall colors for our florals that would also accent the colors in his dress blues. We ordered our wedding cheesecakes from our favorite local spot downtown, The Loft, to top it all off.
As for the dress, I actually had nothing in mind when I went dress shopping. I knew I wanted it to be simple and classy with sleeves. A very sweet associate at David’s Bridal actually picked my dress out for me. She said “I think this dress would look stunning on you if you’d like to try it on.” I tried it on last and fell in love with it. I knew the clean simple lines would look so beautiful and elegant next to his uniform and would suit our venue perfectly. I knew I wanted flowers in my hair before I ever picked my dress. I had a custom made floral comb made by TheFancyTriangle from Etsy. I wore my hair the way Ty loves it best - up. I’m a very minimalist gal and decided on some simple pearl earrings and a vintage style eyelash lace veil to pair with the dress.
How did Tyler proposed?
- Ty actually popped the question without a ring because he wanted us to design it together. He decided to go with a James Allen custom ring. It’s a beautiful bezel set diamond. He thought it suited me best and I fell in love with it. It’s classy and simple with a very vintage vibe and so unique. I’ve never seen a ring like it. For him, we went with a simple, thin titanium band that wouldn’t get in the way at work and could take a beating.
Our day was absolutely perfect. The weather was gorgeous. It was such a crisp fall day without a cloud in the sky. The house was stunning and cozy with the fireplaces going. Everything went so smoothly and was just so stress free. The moment I saw Ty as I started walking down the aisle, everything else disappeared. We locked eyes and it was truly magical. All I felt was pure joy to finally be marrying my best friend. He looked incredibly handsome and seeing his face light up when he saw me was so special. We decided we didn’t want to do a first look. He had no idea what my dress would look like or anything so his reaction was completely candid. If I could freeze that moment to relive over and over I would. Luckily Aline and Mihai got the best picture of his face the moment he saw me. Ty said he was blown away. He couldn’t believe how stunning I looked and loved my dress. I couldn’t believe how lucky I was to get to marry a man like him. He’s the best person I’ve ever met and I get to be his wife.
